Microsoft Teams Rooms
Certified room kit, unchanged. The camerawork improves on the input it already uses.
A Teams Room is a certified assembly, and the sensible thing to do with a certified assembly is leave it alone. The software does not join it. It drives the cameras on the control side, so the room console, the certified kit and the meeting itself carry on unchanged while the picture the far end receives is composed rather than pointed. Nothing is installed on the room machine.
How it connects
The room kit keeps taking video from the camera input it is certified with. The software reaches the cameras over the control network and stays clear of the meeting path.
What it does
- Drives the cameras on the control side, so the far end receives composed framings while the certified room kit carries on unchanged.
- Runs prepared moves on a cue: a flight is an authored camera move, with a planned route, framing and pace from departure through landing.
- Gives the room a calm picture that settles into each framing, instead of one that jumps between presets while people are speaking.
- Keeps each camera inside the part of the room it may look at, so a doorway or a bright window stays out of the meeting.
What it does not do
- It does not talk to Microsoft Teams. Nothing is installed on the room machine, and the room console and the meeting are untouched.
- It does not alter the certified assembly. Which camera a certified room uses stays the integrator's call against that certification.
- It does not start from the room calendar, and it does not follow a person on its own. Framings run when your team cues them.
- It does not touch the video. The room kit keeps taking the picture from the camera input it is certified with.
Setting it up
Confirm the kit with your integrator
Your integrator confirms which cameras the certified room uses. We check whether the software can drive those cameras over the control network.
Compose the framings
Frame the table, the presenter position and the room wide, and draw the moves between them from a picture of the room itself.
Test from the far end
Join a test meeting and watch each framing from outside the room, so you see what remote participants will see.
Leave the room console alone
The room console and the meeting work exactly as before. Your team cues the prepared framings from the computer or a joystick beside it.
Questions
Does this change our certified Teams Room?
No. Nothing is installed on the room machine, and the console, the certified kit and the meeting carry on unchanged. The software drives the cameras over the control network and stays clear of the meeting path.
Is PTZ Composer certified for Teams Rooms?
We do not claim a certification. The software does not join the certified assembly. Which camera a certified room uses is your integrator's call against that certification, and we then check whether the software can drive that camera.
Can the room console start the camerawork?
Not today. The software does not talk to Teams or read the room calendar. Cue the framings from the computer, a VISCA joystick panel or a USB joystick. Recall from a Crestron, Extron or Q-SYS panel is in evaluation and is not delivered yet.
What happens to the meeting if the software stops?
The meeting carries on. The cameras come to a controlled rest and stop taking new instructions, and the room kit keeps taking the picture from its certified camera input.
