Smooth Operator makes cameras move the way the moment needs.
Smooth Operator is the brand and the motion technology. PTZ Composer is the product it is sold as: software that prepares and performs camera flights on PTZ cameras a room already owns.
The technology and the product
Smooth Operator's motion technology plans movement around the camera in front of it: what that model can do, how it responds, and where its limits are. A flight is an authored camera move, with a planned route, framing and pace from departure through landing, and the engine's job is to make the camera produce it.
PTZ Composer is the application that brings that engine into a production workflow. Compose the flight, rehearse it, arrange prepared shots in a rundown, and cue or perform it live along a virtual rail.
Every segment, the same software
A worship room, a theatre, a school hall, a lecture theatre, a council chamber, a studio and a conference stage ask for different camerawork and buy the same thing. The segment changes the moves, the vocabulary and who runs the desk, not the product.
That is why the solutions pages are written for each room rather than for a category, and why the licensing unit is a block of up to four cameras wherever those cameras stand.
Sold through partners
PTZ Composer is built to be sold and installed by partners who work in your segment every day: integrators, distributors, rental and staging companies. The program is open, and its terms are public. Where a commercial number is still owed, the partner pages say so instead of inventing one.
We also talk to camera manufacturers about the motion technology itself. That is a separate conversation with product and engineering teams, kept away from the purchase path.
What runs it
PTZ Composer runs on macOS and on Windows, and one license covers either. It controls camera movement; your program video stays on the path it is on today, through your switcher, your recorder and your stream.
Compatibility has two answers and we always say which one applies to you: Tested, meaning a model, firmware and control path we have flown and recorded, and Supported protocol, meaning the camera speaks a control language we work with and the software measures it and says honestly whether it can fly your move.
