Echo360
Your Echo360 schedule and pipeline are untouched. The camerawork gets better.
Echo360 captures on a schedule and publishes to the students, and that stays exactly as it is. The software drives the cameras in the room, so the scheduled capture receives a picture that was composed rather than a picture that was pointed. Nothing is installed in the capture path, nothing is asked of the platform, and the timetable that drives the room keeps driving it.
How it connects
Camera video reaches Echo360 the way it always has. The software reaches the cameras over the control network and leaves the capture pipeline alone.
What it does
- Drives the cameras in the room, so each scheduled capture receives a picture that was composed rather than a picture that was pointed.
- Runs the moves your AV team prepared: a flight is an authored camera move, with a planned route, framing and pace from departure through landing.
- Keeps each camera inside the part of the room it may look at, so the recording never shows the ceiling, the window or the empty back rows.
- Brings each camera to a controlled rest when the software stops, so the capture carries on with a steady picture.
What it does not do
- It does not talk to Echo360. There is no plug-in, no connector and no change to the capture device or the institution's account.
- It does not start from the Echo360 timetable. Today the coverage starts from the computer, a VISCA joystick panel or a USB joystick.
- It does not follow a person on its own. The coverage is composed by your AV team and performed as composed.
- It does not touch the video. The scheduled capture receives the picture on the same input, in the same format, as it does today.
Setting it up
Check the cameras
Tell us the camera makes in each room and how the rooms are networked. We confirm which cameras the software can drive before any purchase order is raised.
Compose the room
Your AV team frames the lectern, the boards and the house wide, and draws the moves between them from a picture of the room itself.
Rehearse and test a capture
Run each move in the empty room, then let a scheduled Echo360 capture record it, so you see the result where the students will see it.
Leave the timetable alone
The capture schedule keeps driving the room. Your team starts the coverage for the hour, and the capture receives composed camerawork.
Questions
Does this change our Echo360 schedule or settings?
No. The timetable, the capture device and the publishing workflow stay as they are. The software drives the cameras over the control network and never joins the capture path, so there is nothing to change on the Echo360 side.
Does the camerawork begin automatically with the scheduled capture?
No. The software does not read the Echo360 timetable. Start the coverage from the computer, a VISCA joystick panel or a USB joystick. Recall from a Crestron, Extron or Q-SYS room panel is in evaluation and is not delivered yet.
Does the camera track the instructor?
No. The coverage is composed by the people who know the room and performed as composed. It does not look for a person on its own, which is why it does not wander across the hall mid-sentence.
What happens to the capture if the software stops?
The capture carries on. The cameras come to a controlled rest and stop taking new instructions, and Echo360 keeps recording the picture on the input it always uses.
